Equity means that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to live a long, healthy life – and nobody is left behind because of who they are or where they live. But research shows that some members of our community face significant barriers to good health, overall wellness and opportunity. This is particularly true for our communities of color, which experience disproportionate levels of chronic disease, deaths and disabilities.

Past efforts by other community organizations have tackled race issues but now we must engage racial equity as a systemic issue. Horizon Foundation seeks to reduce health disparities and work toward racial equity in health by:

  • Advocating for policies and practices that dismantle longstanding health barriers and promise more equitable health outcomes for people of color
  • Elevating the voices of leaders from communities of color
  • Strengthening the abilities and resources of community organizations to advance movements for social change

Help launch a new movement for equity that will break down longstanding health barriers and reduce disparities for communities of color by attending one of three four-hour workshops:

  • Thursday, Sept 20, 8 am – 12 pm
  • Thursday, Sept 20, 4 – 8 pm
  • Saturday, Sept 22, 8 am – 12 pm

Participate in the Racial Equity Summit on November 10 where we will develop a Roadmap to Racial Equity in Health.
