Facilitators from the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center lead a session designed to get participants involved in healthy dialogue about topics that matter in our community. This session will use a community circle format which will encourage all present to participate by sharing and hearing individual perspectives. All are welcome to attend.
Participants are asked to consider the following discussion prompts:
- “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” – Rumi
- “Dialogue is not beating someone over the head into submission with our opinions so they agree with us. It’s about conversing with others to reach understanding, to open our hearts to hearing what they’re saying.” – adapted from David Smith’s June 2017 TEDxFulbright talk entitled “Talking about Peace”
- “Diversity is being invited to the party, inclusiveness is being asked to dance.” – Verna Myers
